“I really believe that Ukraine will be a NATO member”, – he commented on the Euro-Atlantic prospects of the state.

“Of course I can’t predict when it will happen, but I always told my Ukrainian and Georgian colleagues: be quiet. Work on that, and be ready to use any opportunity for rapprochement with the Alliance), when it occurs,” he said.

The Minister urged skeptics to recall the story of the approach of the Baltic States in NATO. “It was not obvious that they will join NATO. Moreover, this assumption until a certain time even seemed absurd, even at the expert discussions,” he recalled

“Do you remember, at the time, presidents Putin and Bush were almost friends. But despite this, President Bush voted to the Baltic States joined NATO. Remember what Putin said: Yes, we don’t like it, but we won’t start a war because of this. Of course, now times have changed, but I suggest not to lose hope,” he added.

Earlier in February, Hungary blocked the carrying out of the Commission Ukraine-NATO of the education act.
