Poroshenko met in Munich with U.S. Secretary of defense
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with U.S. Secretary of defense James Mattis in the framework of the Munich conference on security issues.

The sides discussed the situation in Donbas and expressed concern about attempts by Russia and supported militants to derail the peace process.
They also discussed the necessity of placing a UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas in accordance with UN principles and objectives of the Minsk process.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the US decision on strengthening the capacity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defense of Ukraine.
