“The Russian flag should not fly anywhere”. Poroshenko urged the world to put pressure on Russia
During a speech at the 54th Munich security conference, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko urged the leaders to continue to put pressure on Russia over its aggression against Ukraine, participation in the war in Syria. Poroshenko appealed to the leaders of the countries that they do not recognize the Russian presidential elections in the occupied Crimea and not restored the authority of Russia in PACE. He stressed that Russia came into Crimea to protect the rights and freedoms of people – they are being violated wherever there is Russia and most brutally against the Crimean Tatars. Russia also is not interested in annexation of Donbas – this area was subjected to a military attack by the Kremlin to weaken and destabilize Ukraine.
“However, Ukraine is not Russia’s aim. Russia has a different goal. Its purpose is to meet the ambitions of the Kremlin, and revenge for “the greatest catastrophe of the twentieth century,” as Putin described the collapse of the Soviet Union. He recalled the “little green men” in Crimea: after the first ridiculous objections, the Kremlin admitted the truth.
