The APU is armed with the latest tanks “Oplot” with a considerable delay – Muzhenko

Obtaining the Armed forces of Ukraine modern tanks “Oplot” will be delayed for approximately a year.

This was stated by chief of the General staff of Ukrainian armed forces Viktor Muzhenko in an interview with “Radio Liberty”.

“Regarding the tanks “Oplot”, tanks “Oplot” adopted. We expected at the end of last year – the beginning of 2018 the receipt of such tanks, but on the basis of certain technical reasons, we assume that these tanks will get to the end of 2018,” – he stressed.

According Muzhenko, the reason for the delay is the possibilities of the Ukrainian defense industry.

We will remind, earlier the Minister of defence Stepan Poltorak said that the Ukrainian defense Ministry intends to purchase military equipment of foreign production. According to the army, the government plans to increase financial resources for modernization and purchase of new equipment. “The contract will be signed on Sakaki BTR-4E latest modernization,” – said Poltorak, adding that APU also will increase the order of the anti-missile systems “Stugna” and “Le Corsaire”.
