Trump has extended the anti-Russian sanctions imposed due to Moscow’s aggression against Ukraine

The US President Donald trump on Friday, March 2, extended for a year sanctions against Russiaimposed over the situation in Ukraine.

In his letter to the leaders of both houses of Congress, the US President explained why extends for a year the state of emergency in the sphere of national security of the United States in connection with the situation in Ukraine.

“The actions and policies of people who undermine democratic processes and institutions in Ukraine; threaten its peace, security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and support the abuse of assets; as well as the actions and policies of the government of the Russian Federation, including the annexation of Crimea and use of force in Ukraine, continue to pose unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States,” – said in the message.

The decision on the state of emergency in the sphere of national security of the United States because of the situation in Ukraine was introduced on March 6, 2014. It is the basis for further actions of the Executive branch of the U.S. government to impose sanctions related to the situation in Ukraine.

We will remind, on February 21 , the ambassadors of the European Union decided to extend by six months measures for the freezing of assets and bans visas for 150 individuals and 38 companies responsible for actions against Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
