The President stressed that “Nord stream-2” – political project.
Russia will not do without Ukrainian gas transport system even after 2019, when the contract for the transit of Russian gas across the Ukrainian territory.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in an interview to Ukrainian TV channels.

Today, the President’s working visit to Berlin. There he meets Angela Merkel. The main theme will be war in the East of Ukraine and the peacekeeping mission in the Donbass. Berlin supported the proposal of Kiev to send in the occupied territory of the UN peacekeeping mission. Moscow, however, this mandate sees in his own way.

The Ukrainian head of state noted that the gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” is absolutely a political project. “There need to invest 15-20 billion, and we have the system ready,” – said Poroshenko.
According to the President, Ukraine is ready to transport 150 billion cubic meters, not 94-97 cubic meters, which was transported last year.
“That is the construction of “Nord stream-2″ – throwing to the wind 20 billion – is absolutely economically meaningless. And I say to the leaders of the European Union: just make the gas that you buy is more expensive, and its economy is uncompetitive. You act, in this case, not only in the interests of Ukraine. You act in the interests of unity of the EU and of EU competitiveness. And I want to assure you that my voice is like the voice very well heard”, – said Poroshenko.

The President of Ukraine said that in Germany already know that “Nord stream-2” is not only an economic but also a political project. In addition, the German Chancellor said that without taking into account the interests of Ukraine, this project could not be implemented. Said the same thing and the Prime Minister of Denmark Lars løkke Rasmussen.
“Look, when was it that the majority of European countries in their negotiations on domestic solutions to energy security of the EU every time he mentioned the necessity of taking into account the interests of Ukraine?” – said Poroshenko.
Answering the question, how Ukraine’s interests are taken into account, the President said: “It can be a variety of options – starting from the fact that Ukraine will be guaranteed to not decrease the volume of transit”.

Recall that the Nord Stream 2, the founder and the sole shareholder of which is Gazprom, intends to start construction of the pipeline in 2018, and complete it before the end of 2019. The length of the pipeline throughput to 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year should be 1220 kilometres, it will connect the Russian Ust-Luga and German Greifswald, bypassing Ukraine.
