Russia has again blocked the extension of the mandate of mission of OSCE observers along the entire section of the Ukrainian-Russian border that is not controlled by the Ukrainian government.
About it reports the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The discussion of the expansion of the mission occurred during a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on 3 may. Russia was the only one who “stubbornly blocking the extension of the mandate of the mission for the entire stretch of the border adjacent to the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine,” reads the commentary of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry.

“Such actions of the Russian Federation indicate its intention to continue the supply of arms, ammunition and military equipment of regular troops, mercenaries to support terrorist activities on the territory of Ukraine”, – said the Ukrainian foreign Ministry.
It was decided to extend the mandate of the OSCE observer Mission at two Russian checkpoints Gukovo and Donetsk.

We will remind, on March 22 , the OSCE Permanent Council adopted a decision on prolongation of work of its Special monitoring mission in Ukraine for another year, until 31 March 2019.
“Supporting this decision, participating States of the OSCE have demonstrated a willingness to continue to support our government in countering aggression by the Russian Federation which were violated fundamental norms of international law and fundamental OSCE principles according to the Helsinki final Act of CSCE of 1975,” said the foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
The foreign Ministry stressed that “the mission plays an important role in promoting the peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbass on the basis of respect for independence, sovereignty, political unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine”.
