Step to NATO: next week the Verkhovna Rada to adopt a law on national security – Poroshenko

The law will be the plan of cooperation of Ukraine with NATO countries.

Next week the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine can vote in second reading for the national security law.

In an interview with Ukrainian TV channels said the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“And the Law on national security, we will continue to reform the sector of defence and security. What does this mean? We will make it more transparent, starting from financing and ending public control. There will be a number of very important requirements,” he said.

According to Poroshenko, the national security law will be the plan of cooperation of Ukraine with NATO countries.

We will remind, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law on national security in the first reading on 5 April. The document stipulates that the fundamental national interests is the integration of Ukraine into the European political, economic, legal space, membership of the EU and NATO.

The main national interests of the state therein named membership in the EU and NATO, economic development and improved quality of life, sovereignty, territorial integrity and democracy. This law called for the adoption of the Ukrainian Parliament, the Minister of defence of the USA James Mattis, because Ukraine is in need of modernization and streamlining in the sphere of national security.
