The program is participated by five countries.

NATO is not yet invited to Ukraine in the program for special partners to Enhance Opportunity Program.

In an interview with “UKRINFORM” said the head of mission of Ukraine to NATO Vadim pristayko.

“Is NATO to invite Ukraine into this program? No. The next three-year review of the effectiveness of the program was completed six months ago. All five participants, and that Australia, Finland, Georgia, Jordan and Sweden, “periphery” to participate in his work in the future. We are involved in negotiations on this issue. I don’t think this work will be completed to the summit,” said Pristayko.

The program of the special features is a kind of “club’s closest partners, who for various reasons are not allies (NATO), but are willing to work closely, often in technical issues during joint operations and exercises. That is, purely formally, this program is not a “breakthrough” or even a mechanism of Euro-Atlantic integration. Although Ukraine is willing to participate in all forms of interaction, we must also appreciate the proximity with the Alliance, which gives us the status of a Special partner, which is our state for the Alliance. Interesting for Ukraine this next format? Yes. There is a significant added value of this format for us? We must carefully examine our current needs and the needs of the Alliance,” said Pristayko.

We will remind, the President Petro Poroshenko will submit to Parliament amendments to the Constitution on membership of the EU and NATO.
