“Pompeo said that the United States will never recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia and demand restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine”, – stated in the message.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the US State Department, Pompeo said that the U.S. is pursuing its long-standing principle of refusing to recognize the claims of the Kremlin on the territory seized by force, in violation of international law. He called on Russia to respect these principles and to end its occupation of Crimea.
The statement was released after the meeting Pompeo with Donald trump and shortly before U.S. Secretary of state will testify before the Committee on foreign relations of the Senate, where he is expected to face serious interrogation about the trump meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
