Erdogan could remain in power until 2029
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan approved a bill for constitutional reform that will greatly expand its powers.
The bill should be put to a referendum in April, writes “Radio Freedom”.
The changes would allow Erdogan to issue decrees, to establish a state of emergency in the country to appoint Ministers and senior government officials, dissolve the Parliament and remain in power until at least 2029.
According to Erdogan, this reform will create stability in the country. But the opposition see it as a threat to the balance of power.
