Poroshenko held a private meeting with US special envoy Volker
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Friday, October 27, met with the special representative of the USA in Ukraine with Kurt Volker. The sides discussed the ways of resolving the conflict in the Donbas.
This reports the press service of the Ukrainian President.
Poroshenko and Walker coordinated further steps to strengthen the international presence in the Donbass – as part of efforts in the Normandy format, both domestic and international, primarily in the UN Security Council.

The parties discussed the safe situation in the ATO area and stressed the importance of fulfilling the Minsk agreements, especially in terms of consolidation of a sustained and comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of Ukraine from the Russian occupation troops and equipment.
Also Poroshenko and Walker has devoted considerable attention to the question of release of hostages being held by militants in the occupied territories and Russia in its prisons. Specpredstavitel USA handed treatment of the families of the hostages, who hope for his effective support in their release, especially in contacts with the Russian side.

“Kurt Walker commended the adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On creation of necessary conditions for peaceful settlement of the situation in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine”. Poroshenko and Walker also discussed the schedule of future contacts and negotiations in the Normandy format and in the framework of the activities of the Special envoy of the President of the United States in the Affairs of Ukraine.
