Ukrainian salt in Russia banned

Ukraine sold in 2015 in the Russian Federation 864,264 thousands of tons of salt.

Russia imposed restrictions on the import of salt from Ukraine, countries of the European Union and the United States, Canada, Australia, Norway, Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

The decision was taken by the Russian government in September this year, came into force on 1 November this year.

Almost half of the total imports of salt in Russia in 2015 had to Ukraine – 864,264 thousands of tons of salt.

It is interesting that in July 2016 the son of the Russian Prosecutor General Chaika Artem became the main shareholder of “East-Siberian trading-industrial company” (STPC), one of the largest producers of salt in Russia.
