The organization emphasizes that “this exceptional step will help people living on both sides of the line of contact in Luhansk region”.
The international Committee of the red cross (ICRC) is going to pay the debts of the residents of Donbass for electricity.
About it reports “Interfax” with reference to the message of the organization.
The organization said it that for more than a week at the water stations located in government-controlled territory of Luhansk region, there is no electricity because of unpaid bills, resulting in the station stopped.
“We have taken this unprecedented decision to prevent potentially dire humanitarian situation”, – said the head of the ICRC in Ukraine Alan eshleman.
“This is only a temporary measure, not a sustainable solution, but it allows you to win time. This problem can be overcome only through a political solution. If nothing is done, residents of the affected areas will have to face a harsh winter without heating and water,” he said.
