More than half a million Ukrainian citizens in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions do not have easy access to food.

This was stated by the Head of the world food programme of the UN in Ukraine Dorte, Ellehammer, the press service of the Ministry of the temporarily occupied territories.

“These people for various reasons do not have access to food. Today is almost 600 thousand people. Most of them live on the uncontrolled Ukrainian government territory,” she said during the briefing in Kramatorsk.

According to the study the world food programme of the United Nations, which lasted from June 2015 to March 2016, people who live in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions controlled by the Ukrainian government, the greatest need felt in the meat, particularly in beef, pork and poultry. In addition, due to mined areas of certain territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions inhabitants of the private sector can’t grow vegetables (potatoes, cabbage, carrots, beets and onions), which affects the quality of nutrition of the local population.

Earlier it was reported that the militants stopped producing people with the territory under their control at the checkpoint between the villages of Gnutovo and October.
