The President promised to continue work on de-occupation of the Peninsula.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called adopted on 15 November a resolution of the third Committee of the UN General Assembly on human rights in Crimea, the real victory for justice.

About this he wrote on his page in Facebook.

“Convincing result initiated by Ukraine of the UN General Assembly resolution on human rights in Crimea – is a real victory for justice. The UN named Russia the invader state, and the Ukrainian Crimea and Sevastopol as temporarily occupied territories”, – said the President.

Poroshenko thanked all States that had supported the document, and promised to further strengthen the international legal framework for the de-occupation of Ukrainian Crimea.

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin has said, even a permanent human rights monitoring the UN, which provides for the resolution is the first step in the de-occupation of the Peninsula. According to him, henceforth, the phrase “temporary occupation of the Ukrainian Crimea and Sevastopol” will be officially in all UN documents on the de-occupation of Crimea.

We will remind, the third Committee of the UN General Assembly endorsed the Ukrainian resolution on human rights in the occupied Crimea. Voted for the resolution, 73 countries, with 76 abstentions, 23 were against, the latter include Russia and Belarus. For the first time in documents of the UN, called Russia a country-occupier, Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol as temporarily occupied territory. The resolution reaffirms the territorial integrity of Ukraine, non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea, urges Russia to provide unhindered access to monitor the situation with human rights in the occupied Peninsula.
