The Chancellor assured that the restrictive measures will be in effect until implementation of the Minsk agreements.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed with German Chancellor Angela Merkel the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements.

About it reports a press-service of the head of state.

The text says that the policy raised the issue of the deterioration of the security situation in the region. Interlocutors stressed the importance of respect for Russian fighters of the ceasefire regime in the Donbas.

Poroshenko and Merkel agreed to hold a meeting of foreign Ministers in Normandy format.

“The two sides also discussed the preparation of the roadmap for implementation of the Minsk agreements, according to the results of the Berlin summit in Norman format. Agreed to hold at the end of November the meeting of the foreign Ministers of the Norman Quartet”, – stated in the message.

In conversation with Poroshenko Merkel has confirmed that a visa-free regime for Ukrainians will work immediately after approval within the EU the so-called mechanism of suspension.

In addition, Merkel told Ukrainian President on the results of the meeting of leaders of member States of the EU and U.S. President Barack Obama, which took place on 18 November in Berlin. It was confirmed that EU sanctions against Russia will be in effect until full implementation of the Moscow Minsk agreements.

The parties also discussed the issue of energy security, as well as the preparation to the summit Ukraine-EU in Brussels on 24 November.

We will remind, earlier the U.S. President Barack Obama and EU leaders in Berlin spoke about the need to extend sanctions against Russia.
