State statistics unexpectedly reported a fall in the past year the price of vegetables

During 2016 the price of products increased by 3.2%. Last year, the figure was 40.1 percent. At the same time last year, significantly cheaper vegetables – 28.6%.

Such figures during a meeting of the government today, February 8, was named Chairman of the State statistics service of Ukraine Igor Werner.

The most noticeable decline was in Lviv, Kiev, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsya, Chernivtsi, Cherkassy and Zaporizhia regions. There’s vegetables for the year fell by 32% and more. A significant reduction in price of vegetables was observed in Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv regions (minus 26-32%). Slower vegetables became cheaper in the Zakarpatye and Kherson areas (less than 20%).

In the past year has decreased and the price of bacon, eggs, fruit, rice and sugar. During the year the price of these products fell by 10.1% to 1.2%.

At the same time has risen in price housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (by 47.2%) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco products 22.5%.

“In General there has been a substantial stabilization of the price situation in the consumer market – here the inflation rate was 12.4% and was 3.5 times lower compared to the year 2015,” said Werner.

Inflation in January 2017 amounted to 1.1%. This is below the average level of this indicator for January over the past 10 years, said the Chairman of the state statistics.

Meanwhile, experts predict another increase in food prices in the coming months.
