The government will allocate each family of the deceased in the mine “Steppe” more than half a million hryvnia.

The families of those killed during the explosion at the mine “Steppe” in the Lviv region will pay approximately 700 thousand UAH compensation.

This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman after meeting of the Commission for emergency situations.

“We will make a decision about how to allocate each family a half a million hryvnia. Compensation will also be of special social funds of about 150-200 thousand UAH. That is, the total payment will be 600 to 700 thousand UAH”, – he stressed.

According to the head of the government, the most important thing now is to understand what happened and draw the right conclusions.

“This is the case when you need not only to understand what happened here, but to understand other mines in the country, what was happening with the safety of miners both individual and collective. This is priority No. 1. We therefore took the following decision: establishment of the state Commission at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers”, – said Groisman.

Besides, he promised to provide vehicles for transportation of the injured to the capital if necessary.

“If you need to transport someone in Kiev for highly qualified help, I’ll arrange the plane, they will be transferred to Kiev. If it is necessary to arrange consultations with doctors of the institutes of Kiev, we will provide the plane. All necessary we will provide to support people who are injured and hospitalized,” – said the Prime Minister.

Separately, the head of government also reported that personal protective equipment for miners will be allocated 200 million hryvnia.

“Today is not enough protection for the miners in the mines. The means we need 200 million UAH. Victims and those who initially believed missing, after a few hours rose to the surface. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced a nationwide mourning because of the death of the miners. The police began a formal investigation of the causes of the incident. Meanwhile, experts say that the most probable are violations of safety rules of labor protection or the sudden release of methane. Less likely is the version that the explosion caused the mine preparing to increase coal production.

Earlier, the Minister of social policy Andrei Reva reported that the families of the dead miners at the mine “Steppe” will pay 160 thousand UAH.
