The GPU has commented on the removal of Yanukovych wanted by Interpol

The Deputy Prosecutor General Evgeny ENIN commented on the removal of Yanukovych wanted by Interpol.

This was reported by press Secretary of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yury Lutsenko Larisa Sargan Facebook.

“The recent decision of Interpol on the withdrawal with an international investigation of the representatives of Yanukovych’s regime are primarily associated with the imperfection of the criminal procedural law in terms of election of a measure of restraint in form of detention. In particular, the determination of the courts on the resolution of the custody matter in court to participate in the consideration of the petition for election measures of restraint in the form detention is not considered a ruling on detention of the suspect/accused in custody. Accordingly, in accordance with the rules of Interpol, the person in respect of whom no measure of restraint in form of detention cannot be declared internationally wanted,” said ENIN.

He added that some district courts of Kiev refuse to make orders on application of measures of restraint in form of detention without the suspect.

“However, the decision of Interpol is not matter for a trial on charges of Viktor Yanukovych of treason, which will start may 4,” – concluded the Prosecutor.
