In Ukraine increased child support payments and changed the system of calculation

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a law that provides for changes in domestic law regarding the accrual of child support after the divorce. From now on, a minimum amount of maintenance has increased from 30% to 50% of the subsistence minimum for children of appropriate age from 713 UAH for children under 6 years and from 888 UAH for children from 6 to 18 years.

Asking for alimony is the right of the parent who lives with the child. Alimony now are fully owned by the child, but they are managed by one of the parents exclusively for the intended purpose of the child. The one who pays alimony, has the right to require proof of spending the money exclusively on the child to every penny.

Alimony can be for one child, 1/4 the size of earnings (income) of the parent who lives separately. For two children the amount can be increased to 1/3 of the earnings (income) for three or more children – 50%. However, there are limits on the amount of child support is not more than 10 subsistence minimums for a child of the relevant age.

Another important aspect is that the court should award child support within 72 hours. Taken into account not only the official salary, but other income that will be able to confirm the claimant alimony. Property disputes in a divorce can be considered in court indefinitely.

Recall that in 2017 the subsistence minimum for children under 6 years of age is: may 1 through November 30 – 1426 UAH, from December 1 – UAH 1492. For children from 6 to 18 years: from 1 may to 30 November – 1777 UAH, from December 1 – UAH 1860.
