Poroshenko has approved the prohibition of propaganda of St. George ribbon

Today, June 12, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on the prohibition of the manufacture and promotion of the St. George ribbon.

This reports the press service of the Ukrainian guarantor.

This law supplements the Code of Ukraine on administrative offences with a new article and criminalizes the production and promotion of St. George ribbons.

So, public performance, display or wearing the “Colorado” ribbon or image is threatened with a fine from 50 to 150 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (from 850 to 2550 UAH). Will also be confiscated the tape itself or its image.

“The same actions made repeatedly within year after imposing of an administrative penalty, as well as the manufacture or distribution of St. George ribbons or her image shall entail imposing a fine from 150 to 300 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (from UAH 2550 to 5100 UAH) or administrative arrest for up to 15 days and confiscation of the St. George ribbon or objects containing images in all cases”, – stated in the text.

It is worth noting that enters into force the law on the day following its publication in the official press.

As previously reported, on may 16 during meeting of the Verkhovna Rada deputies adopted a decision to ban the manufacture and promotion of the St. George ribbon.

According to the document, the promotion of the St. George ribbon is a public use, display, possession, and distribution of St. George, or her image. Along with the screening of the film during mass events, images on posters, stickers, postcards, and wear clothes, things, mount on cars, the use of modern works of art, use of media and more.
