Klimkin explained what problems will arise in case of introduction of a visa regime with Russia

The introduction of the visa regime with Russia will not give Ukraine the effect “to which we aspire”.

This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, UNIAN news Agency reports. He said this during an Hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, answering questions of deputies, when it introduced a visa regime with Russia.

Klimkin noted that “the usual introduction of visas” will not give the desired effect, “to which we aspire”.

“On the contrary, it will create significant problems in the context of the fact that Russia will take advantage of these problems. Use to do as a provocation, and a deliberate policy restrictions for citizens of Ukraine who live in the occupied territory, on the territory of the occupied Crimea, to move on the territory of Ukraine”, – said the Minister.

In addition, Klimkin added that after detailed analysis it was decided of the Council about the creation of an integrated system, and these measures provide for the “removal of the biometric data of foreigners and persons without citizenship and effective control of movement on the territory of Ukraine and other measures”.

“This system will be implemented gradually, stage by stage, and the usual introduction of visas will not give us the same effect to which we aspire”, – said Klimkin.

As previously reported, Ukraine will introduce biometric controls for citizens of other countries who cross the Ukrainian border. The decision was taken at a meeting of the national security Council, said the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“We should remove all biometric data, including fingerprints and a digital photograph. This will greatly enhance the possibilities to combat terrorism,” he said.

NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said that the decision will primarily affect citizens of the Russian Federation.
