Entered into force the law on heat metering and water. Who and for whose account needs to set the counters

Today, August 2, entered into force the law “On commercial accounting of heat energy and water”. It provides for the mandatory installation of meters.

“Operators of external utilities should install meters. If the operator does not, him, not the consumer, will be fined. In this case, the consumer has the right to buy their own counters. But people pay for it don’t have to. Heat meters must be installed within a year, water for non-residential buildings within one year, and for living for two years”, – said the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman in Facebook.

Thanks to the installation of meters on the account of heat and water the population will pay less for consumption.

According to experts, this law will allow to reduce by three quarters the volume of unaccounted-for-water in-house systems and reduce the consumption of heat energy for one to three years by 15-20%. In turn, this will reduce gas consumption and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
