France wants to thoroughly study the initiative of Putin about peacekeepers in the Donbass

Foreign Minister of France Jean-Yves Le Drian said that the initiative of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on UN peacekeepers in the Donbass requires a thorough study.

He said this after talks with Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, reports UNIAN.

“We have read with great interest the initiative of the Russian Federation in respect of the UN contingent, the security of the OSCE who work there. We now consider this initiative with great attention. Such decisions require a thorough study on our part and on the Ukrainian side. Additional comments will not” – he said.

We will remind, the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov explained that he was referring to Putin under the offer on the introduction of peacekeepers of the UN on the line of contact in Donbas.

The Minister stressed that the initiative belongs to Putin, but the milestones I wanted to explain some details. The objective of the proposal is ostensibly to enforce strict compliance with the Minsk agreements, which says that control over the border of Ukraine will be transferred only after the implementation of the political agreements.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said about the intention to submit to the UN General Assembly the idea of deploying a peacekeeping mission in the Donbas. Putin in response said that I agree to the deployment of peacekeepers of the UN only on the demarcation line in the Donbas to ensure the safety of the OSCE observers. Question he is called on to decide after contact with the militants in the Donbas.
