The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov explained that he was referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin under the offer of the entry of UN peacekeepers to the contact line in the Donbas.
The foreign Minister stressed that the initiative belongs to Putin, but he wanted to explain some details. “This is not a UN force, it is a mission to promote the security of the OSCE observers. It is in full accordance with the logic of the Minsk agreements”, – UNIAN cites the words of Lavrov.
The Minister argues that the Russian side allegedly has long raised the issue of weapons of SMM monitors, but the OSCE has no experience of military missions, and the UN – is.
“Our proposal is that the OSCE observers in good faith, accurately and effectively perform the monitoring of the implementation of the Minsk agreements, let’s give them armed guards, whose composition will be determined by the conflicting parties – Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk”, – he said.
Also the head of the Russian foreign Ministry expressed the opinion that the proposal of Ukraine to deploy peacekeepers on the border with Russia is supposedly not in line with the Minsk agreements.

Putin in response said that I agree to the deployment of UN peacekeepers only on the demarcation line in the Donbas to ensure the safety of the OSCE observers.
