Trump instructed Tillerson to be the curator of the implementation of sanctions against Russia

The President of the United States Donald trump signed the paper on the distribution of certain functions between the Secretary of state, Minister of Finance and the head of national intelligence.

Thus, Secretary Rex Tillerson will oversee the sanctions against Russia and the DPRK. Former U.S. Ambassador to Moscow John Tefft said that Washington will cancel part of sanctions against Russia in case of progress in the Donbass.

In particular, Tillerson received functions and powers in the framework of the Act on combating the enemies of America through the Law on sanctions of 2017, the Law on freedom support of Ukraine in 2014 and the Law on support for the sovereignty, integrity, democracy, and economic stability of Ukraine from 2014.

We will remind, the office of foreign assets control U.S. Department of Treasury released amendments to the two directives of the President regarding the US sanctions against Russia. The changes shorten the time of crediting of physical and legal entities under U.S. sanctions. It is forbidden to carry out operations, to provide funding or make other transactions with defined terms or with capital from companies under sanctions for more than 14 days. Previously this period was limited to 30 days.
