Food programme, the United Nations will suspend its support for the Donbas due to lack of funds

The world food programme (WFP) announced the decision to stop providing food and other humanitarian aid to residents of Ukraine who were touched by the conflict in the Donbas.

The press-Secretary of the humanitarian organizations on Tuesday, December 5, reported that the cessation of supplies to Eastern Ukraine in the next two months will be held in connection with the shortage of funding, WFP. According to the speaker, due to problems with funds for the organization was becoming more difficult to continue to implement its programs in Ukraine, informs Reuters.

WFP will continue its activities on a limited basis in the East of Ukraine until at least mid-2018 year, and will continue to monitor the situation in the country, said the WFP representative.

The world food programme is the structural division of the United Nations and the world’s largest humanitarian organization.

Earlier, the humanitarian coordinator of the UN Neal Walker said that in the East of Ukraine is growing humanitarian crisis. The United Nations stated that more than a million Ukrainians have problems with access to quality food, electricity and water supply. Overall humanitarian assistance in the Donbas required more than 3 million people, almost two million of them live in non-government controlled territories.
