The European Union will undertake to improve life in five regions of Ukraine

The EU will allocate 5 million euros for the development of the Danube region. The agreement was signed on 8 December in Brussels between the Ukrainian government and the European Commission in the framework of the meeting of the Association Council EU-Ukraine, reports UNIAN.

The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze, and the representative of the European Commission for regional policy and urbanization Jean-Pierre Halkina. Hungary needs to join later.

This agreement provides funding for the following priority areas: improvement of preparedness for environmental risks, the growth of competitiveness for business and social innovation; increase investment capacities in the Danube region to address major social problems.

It is reported that the deal will promote transnational cooperation and improve the socio-economic level of development of Chernivtsi, Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions. In turn, this will make possible the implementation of the Agreement on Association between Ukraine and the EU.

Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced the decision of the European Commission to provide Ukraine tranche of assistance in the amount of 1.8 billion BPO.
