NABU desire of MPs to establish control over the Bureau called the path to destruction

The National anti-corruption Bureau responded to the statement of the representatives of factions of the PPO and “popular front” about the need to “establish parliamentary control” over the activities of the NEB.

As a mechanism of control, the parliamentarians asked to approve a bill to simplify the procedure of dismissal of the Director of NABU through the expression of his distrust by a simple majority of votes in Parliament and a similar action against the head of the SAP. Also, the bill could significantly expand the powers of the Commission for external control of NEB by providing its members with access to the state secret and the right to inspect not only completed and handed over to the court case, but the current investigation.

“We stress that in the case of the adoption of this bill will be dealt a devastating blow to the independence of the newly formed anti-corruption body and the achievements in the fight against corruption, which they managed to achieve, despite the systemic resistance of the ruling elites. Unfortunately, there is a high probability that the bill may be adopted in the near future”, – said the press service of the Bureau.

For this decision voted 12 deputies from the faction “Block of Petro Poroshenko”, “Revival”, “Opposition bloc”. Two abstained. Sobolev’s work was unsatisfactory.
