The German foreign Minister called for the UN peacekeeping mission in the entire territory of Donbas

The UN peacekeeping mission needs to be armed and to operate throughout the territory of Donbas occupied by Pro-Russian militants.

This was stated by foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel Gabriel at a joint press conference with Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin on Wednesday in Kiev, transfers “Interfax-Ukraine”.

This was stated by Deputy Russian foreign Minister Grigory Karasin. According to him, the Kremlin will protect the political interests of Donetsk and Lugansk, and will not allow you to “close the border” between the Donbass and Russia. Russia insists that blue helmets only protected in the Donbass, the OSCE mission. While the West supports the position of Ukraine – the role of peacekeepers must be extended to the whole occupied territory.

Also, the German Minister hopes that the decision on the peacekeeping mission will be able to find up to the presidential elections to be held in March this year.

“I would like to ensure a stable truce did not depend on elections in Russia, and I hope that we will be able to make realistic and acceptable mandate of the UN mission to elections in Russia,” said Sigmar Gabriel.
