Away from the “Russian world”. The reaction of politicians and experts on the adoption of the law on the return of the Donbass
Today, January 18, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was adopted the law on the reintegration of Donbass. For this decision voted 280 deputies of the 351 MPs present.
The adopted law recognizes Russia as an aggressor, which is responsible for committing crimes against the sovereignty of Ukraine and the permanent stay of divisions of armed forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Ukrainian state.
Surprisingly, the government’s decision was supported by deputies of several fractions.
In particular, non-faction MP Hanna hopko commented on the adoption of the law on his page on Facebook: “the Adopted law finally leads to compliance with our legal framework with international law and puts points over “I”. Russia recognized the aggressor state, the territory of certain districts of Donbass temporarily occupied, illegal structures that there are the Russian occupation administration. Responsible for all the consequences of the aggression and occupation in accordance with international law attributable to the state-aggressor”.

At the same time, hopko pointed out a basic flaw in the law.
“It (the law) applies only to the Donbass, not Crimea. In my opinion, to all the occupied territories should be of a uniform legal approach and the common law. This issue will have to return in the future,” the MP summed up.

In particular, the Deputy of the faction “Samopomich” Yegor Sobolev said: “it was three years before the recognition of the Russian occupation was accepted by the representatives of the “Block Poroshenko”, “popular Front” and “Radical party”. The document is important for the country, for international arbitration, for future lawsuits in favor of Ukraine and citizens in the European courts. But we need to see its final version.”
A member of the party “popular Front” Mikhail Khmil stated: “the law was we need, so we can not speak about the conflict in the East of Ukraine, and about a full hybrid war of Russia against our country, and bring Russia to justice for these crimes in international courts”.
On his page in Facebook member of the faction “block of Petro Poroshenko” Dmitry Andrievskiy congratulated his colleagues with the adoption of the law.
“Our military is on the front lines, weapons in hand, giving a fitting rebuff to the Russian occupation forces. Parliamentarians taking important laws of our country of historical significance!”.
A clear position was expressed by first Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko.
“The law about de-occupation brings Ukrainian legislation closer to international and allows our diplomats to operate effectively in international courts. We need diplomatically to help our army win this war.”

According to Alexander Turchinov, the new law creates an adequate legal and organizational conditions for the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

The Chairman of the faction “Samopomich” Oleg Berezyuk also responded to the results of the vote: “the fact of the adoption is encouraging, but I suggest to wait for the final text, before you rejoice”.

As it turned out, 49% of Ukrainians believe that for the sake of peace in the Donbass need to agree on a compromise. And peace at any price is final, only 18 percent of respondents. Unacceptable consider granting the Russian language state status, stated that 48 percent of respondents. Almost the same number of people – against the granting of special status to certain territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. In turn, many MPs protested the adoption of the law and spoke about the negative aspects of the innovation.

In particular, he identified two main negative point: the “unprecedented and implicit authorizations for all persons involved in the implementation of national security and defense, resistance and containment of Russia’s military aggression in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.”

The people’s Deputy Nadezhda Savchenko also criticized the bill.
