The government agrees with the IMF on a new price for gas for the population.

The Cabinet agrees with the International monetary Fund the new formula, according to which will determine the cost of gas for the population. The new tariff should be introduced from 1 April.

Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman says that he advocates for the fair pricing of gas, which does not allow any corruption in this area. The head of government said during a briefing, transfers UNIAN.

“There are questions to align the price of commercial gas and gas for the population and we are working with the IMF. I some issues I do not agree, I believe that there should be fair pricing in Ukraine, and we have to build the price, to avoid any corruption manifestations”, – said Groisman.

He added that the government must ensure the protection of people from possible increases in the cost of gas.

Earlier, President Petro Poroshenko said the government is ready to regulate the price of gas in accordance with IMF requirements, which include pricing on the cost and transportation costs. Establishing the market price of gas is a prerequisite for the continuation of cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF, that is, the allocation of the next tranche of the loan.

24 Jan Poroshenko and managing Director of the IMF Christine Lagarde at the meeting of the world economic forum in Davos (Switzerland) announced agreement on measures for the completion of the fourth review of the programme of cooperation and the allocation of the fifth tranche.
