The pressure on Russia, reforms in Ukraine and cooperation: what was said Poltorak and Mattis at the Pentagon

The Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak held a personal meeting with the head of the U.S. defense Department James Mattis.

The talks were held at the Pentagon, writes UKRINFORM.

The defense Ministers are not made after the meeting, as previously assumed, but before that the sides expressed hope for further fruitful bilateral cooperation.

The Pentagon chief also noted that the United States will continue its policy of pressure on Russia for its aggression against Ukraine. In addition, he drew attention to reforms in Ukraine and the necessity of anti-corruption efforts.

Previously it was assumed that the parties were to discuss the supply of U.S. defensive weapons to Ukraine.

Videobay house approved the sale of lethal weapons Ukraine

The US state Department has approved a commercial license for export to Ukraine sniper rifles “Barrett”, their ammunition and all the necessary parts and accessories with a value of 41.5 million dollars. At the same time, the document says nothing about the selling of heavy weapons, particularly anti-tank systems “javelin”, the supply of which had previously asked the Ukrainian government.
