Night time house arrest for Saakashvili over – lawyer
In the night of 6 February is over the validity of a measure of restraint in the form of a night of house arrest and restrictions on the outskirts of Kiev, which was chosen for the ex-President of Georgia and leader of the “Movement of new forces” Mikheil Saakashvili.
About this in comments to “Interfax-Ukraine” said the lawyer Saakashvili Ruslan Chernolutsky.
“The attempt to present and declare a suspicion Mhalu Saakashvili is dated and calculated by the Prosecutor’s office on 5 December. The deadline of the measure of restraint in connection with the decision of Appellate court of Kiev, expires at midnight on 5-6 February, and the measure is automatically cancelled,” explained Chernolutsky.

“To extend the validity of a measure of restraint Saakashvili, prosecutors must go to court and argue provide reasons why they missed the deadline of application for extension of time. We believe that the omission of the deadline for filing this petition is a gross violation by the prosecution and a basis for the court to deny admission of an application for extension of a preventive measure,” he said.

Saakashvili is accused of assisting a criminal group under article 256 of the Penal code. He faces from 3 to 5 years behind bars.
