Petro Poroshenko noted the personal efforts of Robert Portman in providing Ukraine with military assistance.

President Petro Poroshenko has awarded Senator of the United States of America Robert Portman, the order “For merits” III degree.

About it reports a press-service of the head of state.

The high award “for significant personal contribution to the strengthening of Ukrainian-American bilateral cooperation, upholding state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the Head of state presented to Robert Portman during a meeting held in the presidential Administration.

The President expressed gratitude for the strong bipartisan support for Ukraine from the U.S. Senate.

Petro Poroshenko noted the personal efforts of Robert Portman in providing Ukraine with military assistance, in particular defensive weapons, as well as the imposition of sanctions in connection with Russia’s aggressive actions.

During the meeting discussed the situation in the Donbas. Also condemned violations by the armed and controlled by the Russian militants of the ceasefire on the occasion of the Easter holidays.

Stressed the need to maintain sanctions on Russia to stop armed provocations and escalation of tensions and ensure the proper implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Recall that earlier Poroshenko awarded the order of the Director of the film “Cyborg”.
