The Verkhovna Rada by majority vote supported the appeal of the independence of the Ukrainian Church.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed gratitude to people’s deputies of Ukraine, who supported his appeal to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the granting of the Tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

About this he wrote on his page in Facebook.

“I thank Parliament for the support of the appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarch concerning the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine! I believe the Ukrainian autocephaly, because I believe that it is the will of God,” he said.

According to Poroshenko, Ukrainians now remains faithfully pray for the Ecumenical Patriarch and for the early granting of the Tomos.

Recall, Petro Poroshenko officially took an appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew regarding the autocephaly of the Orthodox churches of Ukraine.
