Transcarpathian farmers predict active daily decrease in prices for early strawberries – thanks to a good harvest and an increased supply on the market.

This was told by the owner of a small strawberry farms in Vinogradov, Transcarpathian region Ivan Sakan, reports “UKRINFORM”.

“This year the strawberry season was a success, escaped the frosts, the weather helped, the berry has matured well and a lot of it. We started to sell the first greenhouse strawberries for local markets two weeks ago, then the price in the purchase started from 125 UAH. On the market per kilogram requested from 130 UAH. Now the price of strawberries has dropped to 75 UAH wholesale purchase – this is strawberry, which was laid under the agrotextile. And then the price will fall every day from the glut of the market,” said Sakan.

Their strawberry farmer delivers to wholesalers who carry it for sale in Lviv and Kyiv.

On Zakarpattya markets have already started to sell the cherry: traditionally, the first cherries sold in bundles of several pieces – 5-10 hrn. A kilo of cherries is now asking 50 UAH. The owners noted that this year the berries ripened very early.

“I do not remember that in early may, enjoyed the first cherries. And this year may 2 in the tree was the red berries,” – says Lyudmila Kogutek with Mukachevsky.
