The Alliance does not agree with the statements of the Hungarian government regarding the Ukrainian reforms.

The Hungarian government sent a letter to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg with the initiative to revise the program to support Ukraine. This DW on Friday, 25 may, said one of the officials of the Alliance.

However, NATO has no plans to turn off support for Kiev. “NATO has a strong political and practical support for Ukraine, and there are no plans to change anything in this,” – said the source DW. The document also indicates the shortcomings in Ukrainian reforms, in particular, that led to the failure of the European Union at the end of last year, the tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of 600 million euros. “It appears that the Ukrainian government lacks the political will and ability to implement a program of fundamental reforms demanded by international donors,” – said in a Memorandum.

In turn, NATO did not agree with this opinion. “In recent years, Ukraine has implemented significant reforms in the sphere of defense and security, but also in areas including health, education and social security. It is important that Ukraine continues to go through reforms,” the official said of the Alliance.

And Ukraine, he offered to withdraw from the operation of laws that “limit the rights of national minorities”, those that belong to NATO countries. “Although this decision certainly does not meet the requirement of non-discrimination, yet it will give an opportunity for Ukraine to stay on the path of integration into NATO”, – consider in Budapest.
