The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with the head of the U.S. Department of state Mike Pompeo.
This was in the night of June 2, reported the press service of the Ukrainian President.
Poroshenko and Pompeo discussed the strengthening of cooperation in the field of security and defense. The President of Ukraine thanked for providing anti-tank missile complexes “javelin”. The parties also discussed the challenges to security in the implementation of the project “Northern stream-2”.

The President of Ukraine and U.S. Secretary of state coordinated positions in the context of the pronouncement of the findings of the investigation of the shooting down of flight MH17 and stressed the importance of extending sanctions against Russia.
Poroshenko also noted the importance of continuing pressure on Russia to release all Ukrainian hostages.
We will remind, on the eve of US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo said about the urgent need to help Ukraine because of the threat of Russian aggression. He said this during a meeting with the Minister of foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto in Washington. According to Pompeo, it is important to ensure and support the cooperation between Ukraine and NATO and to resist the hostile influence of Russia in Central Europe.
